Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity at Formaplex for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to become part of our maintenance team, the successful candidate will be based at our facility in Portsmouth and provide reactive and preventative maintenance cover across all 4 sites.

At Formaplex you will be working on a wide array of machinery including – Injection moulding machines, paint booths, CNC milling machines and autoclaves. Previous experience in any of these areas would be beneficial however specific machine training will be given and continuous opportunities to learn from the team and any service engineers that may be onsite.

Ideally the candidate will be apprentice trained to NVQ level 3 or equivalent with a relevant engineering qualification such as City and Guilds or BTEC. The candidate should have their BS7671 17^th or 18^th Edition and an advantage would them to hold their BS2391 or BS2392 Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing.

Salary: £30,000 -£37,500 plus 20% shift premium

Hours: 6-2 and 2-10 rotating 2 weekly

Job Function & Key Tasks 

To ensure that Formaplex production facilities can operate at full availability through periodic maintenance in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System. To provide reactive breakdown maintenance cover to all production equipment using fault finding techniques to minimise downtime. To install test and inspect minor electrical installation with recorded results.

Support  facilities maintenance including any audit rectification work.

• Provide reactive breakdown support to all production equipment.
• Complete planned maintenance tasks on schedule to the desired standard.
• Install test and inspect minor electrical installation.
• Participate in continuous improvement throughout the production areas of the business.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors when necessary.
• Record all work on the maintenance work log.
• Complete minor fabrication work.
• Ensuring all activities are undertaken in a safe manner, compliant with all Health and Safety Legislation.
• Supporting Toolroom activities with electrical support.
• Working in a lean, efficient and organised team
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade of job.
• Supervise the department apprentice
• Be a strong member of the lean improvements team

Skills & Experience

Previous experience working in a production environment with any of the following would be beneficial. Injection moulding machines,  paint booths, CNC milling machining centres, autoclaves. Specific machine training would be given. Hydraulic, Pneumatic and mechanical skills or qualifications would be beneficial.

Education & Qualifications

Ideally apprentice trained to NVQ level 3 or equivalent with a relevant engineering qualification such as City and Guilds or BTEC. 17^{th or 18th} Edition Understanding the requirements of BS7671 is essential and City and Guilds 2392 or 2391. Testing and Inspecting would be advantageous.
