Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
Site: Portsmouth
Working hours: 8am – 4pm
Job Function & Key Tasks
- Supporting new product introduction for moulded, assembled and painted components, primarily for the prestige motor industry
- Ensuring all products are released to production with the relevant testing/approvals in place (PPAP)
- Developing the PPAP package and submitting to customer for approval
- Responding to quality complaints and conducting 8D type investigations
- Interpret and apply industry relevant standards as required
- Help promote continuous improvement within the business
- Compiling and analysing data to support decision making
- Performing internal audits
- 2nd party audits
Principle Responsibilities
- Review of customer requirement on specifications, CAD Data and Drawings.
- Support front end project and DFM reviews to ensure feasibility and quality directives are achievable
- Support PFMEA reviews and generate the necessary Control Plans and Work Instructions
- Liaise with customers to gain approval of PPAP, PSW
- Co-ordinating measurement activity of product to present to customer such as, ISIR, Capability Studies and MSA.
- Supporting pre-production trials and builds to ensure a production process with a high quality output
- Coordinating 8D investigations and employing recognised problem solving tools
- Work cross-functionally with other areas of the business, at all levels
- Interfacing with customer on quality issues, measurement reports and concessions.
- QMS interaction (NCR, Concessions, Change management, audit etc.)
- Day to day quality support for all projects (overall product verification)
- Lead quality improvement programmes
- Be a quality point of contact for defined customers
- Customer/supplier visits (onsite and at customer as per project needs)
- Create and maintain quality documentation and records relevant to project, customer and business requirements
- Flexibility to support other tasks as per business requirements
Health and Safety Responsibilities
All employees have a responsibility for Health and Safety whilst at work. As an employee at Formaplex, you are responsible for;
- Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of yourself and that of other persons whom may be affected by your actions
- Co-operating with Formaplex on all matters relating to health, safety and welfare by observing all relevant policies, procedures, safety systems of working and safety signs
- Ensuring the use of all safety related guards, control measures, and wearing of personal protective equipment at all times (where appropriate)
- Reporting of all accidents, incidents and reporting any failings as necessary, or bring to the attention of the Health & Safety Manager
Skills and Experience
- Experience of working within the automotive or equivalent regulated industry (e.g. Aerospace)
- Good knowledge of IATF 16949
- Good knowledge of AIAG Core Tools (APQP/PPAP/FMEA/MSA/SPC)
- Experience of new product introduction
- Experience with recognised RCA tools e.g. 5 why/Ishikawa
- Interaction with MRP/ERP system (Javelin preferably)
- Product & process auditing (ISO, IATF or AS)
- Technical understanding of GD&T principals
- Methodical approach to problem solving
- Excellent time management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer literacy, in particular all MS Office programs
- Highly flexible, dynamic, motivated, and independent
- Knowledge of injection moulding, assembly or painted processes would be a benefit
- Experience using CAD
Education & Qualifications
- Recognised engineering qualification or relevant experience (essential)
- Internal auditor qualification (ISO, IATF or AS)
- Lean/Six Sigma training (desirable)
