Location: Portsmouth

Working Hours: 8am – 4pm Monday – Friday

Job Function & Key Tasks

  • Ensure the expected product quality levels are achieved through product lifecycle management (PLM)
  • Lead through example a team of quality engineers and technicians to ensure IATF16949 compliance is continually upheld
  • Developing the team through mentoring and identifying training needs
  • Effectively translated project milestones to the quality team to ensure the customer’s requirements are fulfilled
  • Ensure robust resolution of internal and external concerns by performing 8D investigations by utilising recognised problem solving techniques
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on defined KPIs
  • Developing the team through mentoring and identifying training needs
  • Internal/ external customer facing for projects and concerns that may arise
  • Out-of-Office deputised Head of Quality
  • An active team member in driving continuous improvement throughout the business
  • Performing audits (Internal and External)
  • Cross functional support as the business requires

Principle Accountabilities

  • Accountable to the Head of Quality for ensuring new programmes are introduced to the required standard (PPAP) within the defined project timings
  • Supporting the Head of Quality to ensure the effective performance of the team
  • Identifying, defining and implementing opportunities for process and resource improvements
  • Ensuring problem solving tasks are completed to IATF requirements ensuring efficient and robust closure
  • Support project and DFM reviews with achievable feasibility and quality directives
  • Supply comprehensive production support for quality issues impacting the ability to manufacture and supply goods
  • Conversant interpreting and applying industry standards
  • A team approach throughout and at all levels of the business
  • Lead quality improvement programmes
  • Compile, monitor and report quality performance metrics
  • Create and maintain quality documentation and records for project, customer and business requirements in line with IATF16949

Principle Responsibilities

  • Review of customer requirement on specifications, CAD Data and Drawings
  • Support PFMEA reviews, the development and issuing of Control Plans followed by Work Instructions
  • Co-ordinating measurement activity for customer submissions such as, ISIR, Capability Studies and MSA.
  • Supporting pre-production trials to validate a production process with a high quality output
  • Customer face quality issues, measurement reports and concessions
  • QMS interaction (NCR, Concessions, Change management, audit etc)
  • Daily quality support projects (overall product verification)
  • Main contact for select customers
  • Upon request support 3rd party audits

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Co-operating with Formaplex on all matters relating to health, safety and welfare by observing all relevant policies, procedures, safety systems of working and safety signs
  • Only using/operating plant, equipment and machinery for which you have received appropriate training and/or authorisation, and using in accordance with such training
  • Ensuring the use of all safety related guards, control measures, and wearing of personal protective equipment at all times
  • Reporting of all accidents, incidents and reporting any failings as necessary, or bring to the attention of the Health & Safety Manager

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working within the automotive or equivalent regulated industry (e.g. Aerospace)
  • Good knowledge of AIAG Core Tools
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Recognised engineering qualification and/or relevant experience
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer literacy, in particular all MS Office programs
  • Product and Process Auditing experience (ISO, AS or IATF/VDA)
  • Full driving license

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Plastic materials, injection moulding, assembly or paint processes
  • Technical understanding of GD&T principals
  • Interaction with MRP/ERP systems (Javelin preferably)
  • Experience of new project introductions
  • Lean/6 sigma methodology
  • CQI Level 3 quality management certificate or above
  • Experience using CAD software
